In Calce v. City of New York, the Second Circuit has ruled that SAF and the other plaintiffs “failed to provide any evidence that stun guns and tasers are in common use” and therefore, on the summary judgment record before it, “no reasonable jury could return a verdict that stun guns and tasers are presumptively protected by the Second Amendment.”
SAF, of course, strongly disagrees with the Court's analysis, which improperly places the common use analysis in the plain text inquiry rather than the historical analysis step. We will be reviewing the decision and our next options in the case soon.

🚨🚨🚨The amended version of the Virginia Assault Weapons Ban Bill has now been released. The amendments proposed by the Governor appear to dramatically broaden the definition of "Assault Firearms" to now include a much broader swatch of commonly available arms.
The newly proposed language has also created confusion as to its intent in the context of semi-automatic handguns and their magazine capacity. We are reviewing the new language in depth and will be following closely for developments from the Virginia Legislature.
