@HomeLoanBill@AgoAdonA@muheediva01 Right so landlords should be able to ask to raising the rent, but unless they actually improve the apartment, then rent should not be raised
I’m not arguing that disabled humans are less human. I’m questioning whether a fetus has the same moral and legal status as a born person
Your argument assumes that being human automatically means it is always wrong to end that life in any circumstance. But even in medicine and law we already recognize situations where ending a human life can be legally and morally treated differently depending on context like self defense or end of life care
@jordan_myers@gomeshiro@DramaAlert I can’t know it firsthand, you’re correct
But there’s a difference between knowing exactly what it’s like and having enough understanding of people’s experiences to form a moral judgment
The argument isn’t about whether the fetus is living. It’s about whether terminating a pregnancy is morally identical to killing a child or adult. It’s not…
Plants are alive. Bacteria are alive. Human skin cells are alive. Are they all equal to a born person because they are living things?
@0JAYSZN So if they did give birth and offered the baby with down syndrome to you to adopt and care for the rest of your life, you would take it on right?
@jordan_myers@gomeshiro@DramaAlert Complete firsthand understanding isn’t required to make moral judgments
By that logic, nobody could have opinions about poverty unless they’ve been poor
@jordan_myers@DramaAlert No because those are two different situations. Believing that parents may choose whether to continue a pregnancy is not the same as believing it’s acceptable to kill people who are already living
The question is about reproductive choice and the moral status of a fetus
@gomeshiro@jordan_myers@DramaAlert Exactly
And if I had the choice right now to either live with down syndrome or die I’d rather die because I understand what it would mean to live with down syndrome
That’s why I don’t disagree with their decision to terminate the pregnancy
@jordan_myers@DramaAlert It is the question being asked because I am asking it
You refuse to answer the question because you know what your answer would be
I disagree. A Down syndrome life would not be worth living. If I had the choice, I would rather not live
