In the surplus C framework, C only flows to fungi when there is more than a plant can use. C that plants would use for growth is not available for transfer

Any ideas what this is? It is growing on a root of Sudan grass (Sorghum sudanese) which was cleared and stained with trypan blue. Plant was grown in greenhouse in sterilized soil and I am assuming it is some kind of fungal pathogen. Thanks for any thoughts!
