This past week I had the privilege of joining Governor Gary Herbert, Val Hale, Curtis Blair, Vance Checketts, Greg Summerhays — and my incredible wife, Kristen Fugal, who serves as Honorary Co-Chair of The Children’s Center Utah’s Catalyst Committee — for an inspiring luncheon at the Riverside Country Club.

We gathered to discuss something truly foundational to Utah’s future: infant and early childhood mental health. Strengthening mental health support for our youngest children isn’t just compassionate — it’s an investment in stronger families, communities, and the long-term well-being of our state.

The Children’s Center Utah is doing remarkable work to expand access statewide, including the development of a new world-class children’s mental health center in Utah County. This effort represents the best of public–private partnership and what can happen when leaders unite behind a shared mission of hope and healing.

I’m proud to support this vision and grateful to the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce for helping bring this important conversation to our community. Together, we can ensure that every child in Utah has the opportunity to grow up healthy, resilient, and supported.
