Beatty references so many different authors and quotes in his argument that books are useless, showing that literature is all a matter of perspective. Two people can use the same book to prove two completely opposite points; it all depends on how we interpret it. #aplac2

One of the things that most stood out to me was when Faber said he would let Montag decide who to believe. That’s such a contrast from the media in their society that is constantly shoving opinions and ideas down their throats. #aplac2

@Halleme15 I think it just has to do with the fact that Mildred conforms to whatever she hears and can’t think for herself. She has so completely lost her will because of the brainwashing from society and the media, that she does whatever she’s told, even if she fears it #aplac2

@TashawnaRankin A phoenix could symbolize purification since it was believed to set itself on fire when it died, so maybe the firemen chose it because they are cleansing the world from books. Salamanders were believed to be able to survive in fire much like the firemen and their protective suits

Clarisse talks about how she is afraid of kids her age killing each other and how her uncle’s grandfather remembered a time when that wasn’t the case. Even though our modern society isn’t the dystopian future that Bradbury describes, many of the same problems exist today #aplac2
