this 1st episode is...phenomenal to say the least
the direction and OST especially are on another level, the art and animation is fantastic, the plot seems to be quite interesting as well
it is definitely an anime to watch this season imo

@MadeInAbyssFR For example, in Frieren S2, Nagasawa, as CD and Chief Animation Director of almost ENTIRE S1, leaved the production, and new couple of character designers just remade design sheets, trying to replicate Nagasawa's style
@MadeInAbyssFR I think staff during S2 production for main characters just used his design sheets from S1 and movie. But new characters (Ganja squad, Faputa) were probably designed by second CD, Yuka Kuroda. Also, unlike Kise, she was AD in many episodes (including solo AD in OP).
The avan specifically caught my eye for the quality of its animation and drawings in Made in Abyss s2 #4, Aito Ohashi (until 18s) did awesome work with the few action cuts while Sheng Meng Chen put extra details in as much stuff as possible, Faputa was goddamn beautiful.
Wow that Sayonara Lara PV, looks stunning!
I was weary that they might not be able to replicate the stellar visual presentation from the original pre-animated trailer but they absolutly did.
Looking forward to this a lot.
The master of morphing and effect animation Masanobu hiraoka 平岡政展 did the ending sequence of the new Made in Abyss movie.
His effects and creature animations are so realistic on this sequence and he drew so many of them during this long 4min+ sequence, it's stunning.
