We had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day. The children loved showing everyone their costumes, talking about their favourite character or book and sharing a book with a friend. They drew their favourite character and made their own bookmarks.
This week we explored the sense of sound and went for a 'Listening Walk' around the school playground as part of our White Rose Science lesson 'Senses'. @WhiteRoseEd#whiterosescience#eyfs@FossdeneSchool
When life gives you rain, make a water channel!
The children developed their coordination, gross and fine motor skills as well as their collaboration and problem solving skills. #positivity#eyfs#waterplay@FossdeneSchool
We talked about mental health and how important it is to look after our minds as well as our bodies. We completed some activities to celebrate #WorldMentalHealthDay2024 We did our usual 'Wake up, Shake up', we did yoga and drew our very own comfort creature @FossdeneSchool
Another great week with lots of learning in Reception! The children used tweezers to save the conkers, added leaves to the trees, read books and played music. @FossdeneSchool
In Science we learned about fruits and vegetables. The children then had the opportunity to explore pumpkins and pumpkin seeds and talk about texture and smell. They made pumpkin soup, did lots of pouring and developed their fine motor skills. #whiterosescience@FossdeneSchool
We went on a school trip to ASDA to explore fruits and vegetables as part of our White Rose Science lesson 'What's in my basket?'. We played 'I spy with my little eye' and the children had to guess the fruit/vegetable. We then tasted the fruit we bought. @FossdeneSchool
Reception have had an amazing first week! We are very impressed with how quickly they have settled in and with all their amazing learning. @FossdeneSchool
Thank you to all the families that visited our Science fair and joined our open classroom for British Science week. Our Reception children are always curious about the world around them and love exploring and learning all about it #britishscienceweek#eyfscience#littleexplorers
