Not indie nor affordable but I’m a big fan of the carry on from Carl Friedrik.

I like the plastic shell, with Aluminium frame. I’ve had no issues with things breaking.

Few things I don’t like:
- the handle bar perturbs to far into the case and takes up valuable space (compared to Away, Porsche Design, American Tourister, etc)
- wheels have stopped being as smooth, but they replaced them for free!
