@Ohohohitsmagici @YWNReporter Sovereign Airspace is not indefinite. If it were, satellites would routinely be crossing national boundaries every 90 minutes or so. Shooting a missile high enough over a country is not war. https://t.co/RzBD1XqJDi
@robrobe61662689 @arturius_mx @Kalebnwachuks @SeitalyArslan@engineers_feed@elonmusk Canadian Criminal Code Section 319(1): Publicly inciting hatredโ"makes it an offence to communicate statements in a public place which incite hatred against an identifiable group."
I believe this is hate speech against libertarians.
One year on, I am glad the death rate of covid19 was not close to the numbers presaged by the early data; I disagree with the reactions stifling liberty; I have concern with the excess public debt; and I am hopeful this new world will be one I am proud to introduce my children to
I have suspended infection model forecasts. It is clear now that the current case numbers are driven principally by social factors rather than biology and physics. I don't feel its useful for me to attempt to predict mercurial social dynamics at this point.
@brodrigu@nealrichter ... well, life may go back to normal on a micro-scale, as I'm sure life did for the average citizen of the Soviet Union after the Russian Revolution... the daily grind hadn't changed, but the future seen on the horizon was changed forever.
@brodrigu@nealrichter The only way to ever get back to "normal" was to have accepted the virus as a factor of life, and moved on. Since the world has chosen a different course and opted to save a few lives now at the cost of the future, there will never be a return to "normal".
@brodrigu@nealrichter Prepare for some combination of: 1) Major wars / revolutions 2) Rise of Communism / Totalitarianism 3) Dissolution of the Eurozone 4) Famines across Africa & Asia 5) Dissolution of property rights in the US, as the government confiscates property to pay it's debt.
@brodrigu@nealrichter Generally, I would agree with that. The costs of stopping the world economy for months are fantastically horrific though... it has been blunted by the Federal Reserve and central banks across the world, but such measures simply delay the economic consequences. TINSTAAFL.
@nealrichter I interpret this as political propaganda to support some states having heavy-handed lockdown decisions. 10 years from now, the % infected in all 50 states will be the same (60-80%), regardless of the lockdown measures or social distancing.
The last couple weeks' data has been a surprise. The downtrend observed indicates that the lockdowns have not been rescinded as much as expected; and the model has teased out that the morbidity rate has decreased recently by about 10%... probably better medical treatments.
@RichardJosephH3 I'm less confident in my position. I'm big enough to say that the recent weeks' data has surprised me. Just not sure how this can resolve itself in anything but parabolic growth if this virus is super-contagious and very few have immunity. :)
