I’m still in shock that @payalmehta100 Ji is no more.

I had the opportunity to interact with her, learn from her and exchange notes a bunch of times. From IPWC, Khan market and until last welcoming her in my office for a recording. From sharing interesting snippets related to India’s evacuation efforts to political suggestions, she was direct, blunt and incisive.

I was in Lucknow a while back and this was after her father had passed away. We went chatting for long, talking about his impact on her life and how her mother is going to work her way through the loss. We talked about the fickle nature of life and how we waste time on many inconsequential matters. I promised her that I am going to be there in any way she likes as she strides through life. God! Can’t believe she is gone.

I remember talking about health with her a bunch of times. Because she used to be the last person out of the Parliament during sessions. And, she would have stories to share. But I remember talking about how, just how surprisingly unpredictable life is!

Payal Di, you will be missed. You have inspired many people who crossed paths with you. Travel well.

To everyone out there-if we have crossed paths, seen each other working through challenges, please keep healthy and stay in touch. Life is just…life.
