@dark1x I miss the days of cool instruction booklets. So much excitement was to be had by pouring through the pages on the ride home before you even got to play the game
@vicious696 Isn't that all the more reason to move beyond generations? Software is more scalable than ever. Release 2027 tech that can match/surpass 2020 tech at a better price point. Release higher end tech that moves capabilities forward. Rinse and repeat as things advance.
@dark1x@thicc_stick_boi Very much so! Moving to fast ssds is easily one of the best qol improvements of current gen. I think a lot of people were more annoyed that certain people framed things as only possible on PS5 when it was in fact doable on any platform with reasonably fast speeds.
@Chris_Dring@HighNGamingNews If we're going to call it something that MS isn't, why not call it a gaming system? We know it plays console only games, we know it plays pc only games, but we don't yet know if you will run productivity apps like office or Photoshop that are unrelated to gaming.
@GameOverThirty@longislandviper MSFT says Gamepass is profitable and selling consoles is not, yet nobody tries to claim they should focus less on affordable consoles. Both are ecosystem plays. Up to MSFT how best to maximize its profits, up to consumers to weigh the value they get in return for their money.
@DestinLegarie Let's say there's an average of 25M subscribers per month paying on average $10 per month. That's 3 billion in revenue per year. What's an estimate for the yearly expenses? I would have to guess it's significantly less than that.
@Qwik@TheRealMrCity@zapellat@NextGenPlayer How much would a pc cost that's at least as performant as series x or s? Surely not $3000 in 2025. What about in 2027/8 (or the earliest time when such an endeavor could possibly launch)? I would think that most budget builds would be capable. Next evolution of smart delivery!
@Dee_Batch Sony (& Xbox) should be done with"generations" Full back compat through PS4/xone & make forward compat easy but up to the dev for PS5 on. Expose more settings to the player. Release consoles when there's a notable technological OR cost improvement. Allows for better CPU upgrades
@digitalfoundry As devs optimize their games/engines to take advantage of the additional CUs in the pro, is there any expectation that this might lead to better utilization on the xsx?
