Onetime A’s catcher Rob Bowen is now a K9 officer and SWAT team member in Dooly County, Ga. Bowen, 39, did ride-alongs with Oakland police when he played for the @Athletics and he believes there is correlation between baseball and police work.@SusanSlusser https://t.co/yvnWnksuvz
Hitting is timing, and timing comes from the eyes. While hitting live is the best way to get back on time coming out of the off-season, standing in on a pitcher’s bullpen to simply track pitches to train the eyes may be the next best option. #STdrills https://t.co/qSfAVn3GI8
Let’s learn from golfers-their salary is TBD each week based on results. They choose a game day coach(caddy) who focuses on strategy/mental skills. They DON’T use their swing coach to caddy. Train mechanics-Compete with strategy and mindset. In ⚾️, your inner voice is your caddy.
This guy walks the walk when he says he is committed to a goal. Hard work and sacrifice pay off. Congrats @Dawson_B_5 on your Official Signing to play at Young Harris next year!
Young players: get around successful people in baseball to learn from them. Find a way to chat w/someone who has accomplished something you want to accomplish. Hanging around guys who complain about their genes & have never thrown >75mph? Expect to be a guy who throws 75mph, too.
@CoachLisle Talking about setup and plate coverage is key to being able to do this and have success. Setup in the wrong area of the box and this style would be disastrous though.
Kids, the vast majority of successful ML hitters never posted gaudy strike out numbers on their way to the big leagues. They worked hard to have consistent, quality at bats in the minors, in order to move up the ladder and eventually get the call to the SHOW!
Joe Maddon impressed by Trevor Story’s adjustment since June when “he got away from all that launch angle stuff” should be a message to all the hitters in the world, get in the box, compete and hit the ball as hard as u can, live w result, hits come w solid contact! #barrelemup
