I ran the largest psychotherapy department in the country, with the largest psychotherapy training programme. Over twenty years, I did not encounter a single case of what is now described as “conversion therapy.”
The term is being used as a straw man conflating serious, exploratory psychotherapeutic work with something punitive and coercive that it is not. This conflation shuts down thought rather than protecting patients, and functions less as a safeguard than as an ideological weapon. @jo_bartosch@Transgendertrd@wesstreeting@CanSG_org@genspect@segm_ebm
A reminder that it has now been 73,974 days since Elizabeth Fry secured the rights of women to female-only prisons by the passing of the Gaols Act 1823
Yet here we are 🤷♀️
I've written a piece (coming out tomorrow) on the way in which certain "progressive" narratives treat female discomfort as, at best, trivial, at worst, bigotry, when it gets in the way of male desire. This article really exemplifies it
I am a committed trade unionist of 35 years standing. I am proud of everything the trade union movement has achieved throughout history. But its abandonment of women fighting to defend their sex-based rights makes me ashamed. Whenever there is a successful tribunal or court result for women - such as today, with the Darlington nurses - mainstream unions are nowhere to be seen. And invariably they lament the outcome. Women are being forced to rely on the Free Speech Union and Christian groups to fight their corner. It’s an utter disgrace.
I can remember back in the 1970s when women were refused specific types of jobs because there were no “ladies’ facilities.”
Plus ça change. It’s a man’s world still.
Women have the right not to undress in front of men at work.
Twenty years ago, that sentence would have been a statement of such obviousness that people would have laughed at you for saying it aloud. Now it's a matter for celebration. Congratulations, you heroines 🎉😘👏
Family holiday seems like the perfect plot mechanism to lose the whole tribe (not Pip, obviously!) when the plane crashes into a mountain…(or is that just wishful thinking?) #TheArchers
I hope whoever drafted this will has very good notes, written advice to her and possibly evidence from Peggy’s doctor that she has capacity. And good insurance cover. #TheArchers
The @internetarchive is offline after a DDOS attack. It says its data is safe. But it may take a while before it is safely back online. It is one of the most important services there is. Its loss would be an appalling tragedy.
