@Jaaavis I mean, they were willing and ready to kill the 2 minority-majority black districts to “restore fairness” so nothing would surprise me. VA Democrats have shown that nothing—no matter how racist or unconstitutional—is beyond consideration if it means consolidating/expanding power.
@AustriDominus@ChristianHeiens Kind of like being a Virginia farmer in the Shenandoah Valley on the West Virginia border who is about to be repped by some lib from Fairfax if SCOVA doesn’t toss the referendum.
@MarkWarner If only @MarkWarner cared so much about the “voting rights” of the millions of Virginians that are supposed to be his constituents then maybe he wouldn’t have donated money to gerrymander them out of fair representation and disenfranchise them. 🤷♂️
@marceelias Kinda like the Virginia gerrymander attempt you supported? “Rural people and those in communities of common interest can vote for their preferred candidates, as long as they are the right candidates—which will be Democrats.”
Glad to see you finally admit that it is a mockery.
If you are a Republican justice who thinks for a solitary minute that Don Scott or Louise Lucas will reappoint you, then you are smoking too much of her weed or his old crack. Just uphold your oath to the constitution & go on to a dignified & honorable legal career.
@VaNewsVanguard If they are conservative they have 0.0% of being reappointed by this far left leaning GA regardless. Might as well go on out on your shield, upholding the constitution. Not like former Supreme Court justices are going to have trouble finding other work.
@PollTracker2024 Thankfully, we live in a constitutional republic that by design is supposed to protect me from being tyrannized from “furthering democracy”.
@samshirazim I am admittedly far from an attorney (or judge) but it seems to me that the question comes down to this: Is early voting part of an election? If, yes, then the referendum was procedurally illegal. If they are not part of an election, then what are they for?
@SpeakerDonScott Yeah, screw a bunch of farmers on the other side of a mountain range in the same state you took an oath to represent because of Trump even though that same state—check this out—didn’t vote for Trump. Not sure how that makes anybody feel good? 🤷♂️
@samshirazim There is no doubt there are more D’s than R’s in VA. The only question is how motivated by vengeance are Democrats to disenfranchise a bunch of fellow Virginian farmers who live on the other side of a mountain range? Will enough vote no or just sit it out?
@ChazNuttycombe Not totally surprising. The results of this vote will have little effect on their representation. It will still be a Democrat. Whereas in R controlled districts, it will have dramatic effect. Aside from vengeance, I just don’t see that they have much motivation.
@NOVAaocfan20@beachmamax2@ChazNuttycombe So you’re saying just wait until one county can use its massive population to determine how the rest of the state is represented? Sounds like so much fairness restoring. Can’t imagine why folks that live on the other side of a mountain range aren’t excited about it…
