5 of our Y12 Chemists just did us proud in the UK-Japan young scientist worships, which we have been involved in since 2013. For the last week they have been collaborating online with students from Japan and academics from Cambridge, Imperial, Kyoto and Tohoku. Fantastic work.
Redcliffe6th Twitter feed is back following an enforced hibernation, or at least will be after the summer holiday, but had to celebrate the work of our top Chemists in the next tweet…
It has been a while since we have had good news to tweet, but our two Envision teams campaigning for teenage mental health and tackling climate change have just been awarded 'Best Team' and overall competition winner. Huge congratulations to both.
Just fantastic school production of Hairspray last night. Outstanding costumes, staging, choreography and production values, some truly amazing voices and a really powerful and relevant message on race, gender, parenting and body confidence. Just loved it!
Great day at the Cambridge University HE+ programme yesterday. Lots of year 12 students getting the opportunity to talk about research they are doing and listen to academics talk about theirs.
Congratulations to Kevin Masih who has just been offered a place to major in mechanical engineering at Vanderbilt University USA with a full scholarship. Really competitive so a great achievement.
18 of our students met with local councillors and the Mayor this week to kick off the City of Sanctuary Ambassadors project, as many as the rest of the cities schools and colleges put together!
RAG week starts tomorrow with an obstacle sack race in the common room followed by the chilli challenge and more. Bring lots of loose change for Aidbox and Water Aid.
Very pleased to welcome Professor Bruce Hood from Bristol University Psychology School to give a fantastic talk to Year 13 on "The Science of Happiness" - a really distinctive addition to our work on student mental health.
90 Oxbridge applicants from 10 Bristol state schools came through our doors tonight to meet with 45 top notch mock interviewers. Probably a unique collaborative project and one which shows why Bristol is very special.
A great new partnership kicked off today with the centre for modelling studies coming in to teach some of our top maths and computing students how to use their skills to solve complex problems, like stress-testing the wings of a jumbo jet. Really good fun (if you are in to that).
