"Muad'Dib learned rapidly because his first training was in how to learn. And the first lesson of all was the basic trust that he could learn. It's shocking to find how many people do not believe they can learn, and how many more believe learning to be difficult" - Dune
I think there's always some form of the idea that's useful for the current conversation. Figuring out how to communicate that is a skill you can lack and saying the idea is too complex to be reduced is a skill issue. If you knew it more you would be able to.
it straight up never occurs to some people that there are some ideas that you can't really understand as a layman because they're too complicated. and it would be a bad thing to pretend otherwise and only pass down warped, extremely simplified versions of those ideas!
People with ADHD have what’s called an “interest-based nervous system.” They literally can’t force themselves to care about things that bore them. It’s not a choice. It’s not willpower. Their brains physically won’t produce the neurochemicals needed to engage unless something triggers interest, urgency, novelty, or challenge.
One interesting thing from the conversation is the inability to imagine a happy marriage. All the energy is spent guarding for when it goes bad. Just don't do it atp
Imo, this happens because you're translating instead of thinking of concepts directly and that happens because you do not speak your native language enough. People who only speak Yoruba do not have this problem. You who primarily speaks English are the one who does.
my new essay: ‘the westernization of moaning’
i wrote about how western influence has removed identity and authenticity from our everyday activities, including & especially sex.

This is one of the reasons continuously doing interviews is good for you.
You get first hand information on what the average company is willing to pay and what your ability to pass the average interview is
you need good information on the market rate for your role
If you play number chicken with a recruiter their optimal move is to lowball you to establish a better baseline for negotiating
If you go first with a well researched above market number you set a better starting point
Guys,
When an interviewer asks you this question, do not rush and answer directly and the rule of thumb is to never be the first to quote a figure (unless pushed to the wall).
If you give a number that is too low, they might underpay you, and if you give a number that is too high, they might also move forward with another because they think you are too expensive or overqualified.
Try this instead:
What are your salary expectations?:
1. Ask to know what the role pays first: “Thank you for asking. To make sure we are aligned, could you provide the salary range you are considering for this position?”
Once the HM or Recruiter gives a figure (say $20k - $30k), then go on to say:
“Thank you for sharing this. Based on my experience and achievements, I’m confident in the value I bring and I believe I’d be a strong fit for the higher end of this range.”
And if you want to renegotiate a higher range, take this further by saying:
“I appreciate the transparency. Based on my skills and the value I bring, I was actually looking at a slightly higher range. Would you be open to discussing an adjustment that reflects my skills and experience?”
Some HMs/recruiters get ogba for head, so they may not feel inclined to provide a range. What then do you do? Here you go:
1. “I’m quite flexible on compensation. My main priority is finding the right role and team where I can contribute meaningfully. I’d also like to learn more about the responsibilities. This is so I can better understand the role and give a more informed response regarding compensation.”
If you need to quote a figure (make sure you've done your research)
2. From my research and after evaluating the JD, I believe a salary between USD 40k and 50k USD would be appropriate for this role considering my skillset and experience level
Season 2 had flashes of brilliance where they broke the mould and just went full cinema. Season 3 prioritises tone and feel over a consistent style from episode to episode. This is just so beautiful, man.
The word effable simply means it can be described but when we antonymise it with the prefix in, the word "great" sneaks in there and sets up like a bouncer, limiting the description to the sublime.
Ineffability is for the people. Forced greatness is not required.
Today Google defined ineffable as "too great or extreme to be described in words". I would like to complain about how the word "great" here is unnecessary. Something can be mundane yet impossible to describe.
