What he has in common with all but Kompany is that he also spent a the majority of his career playing for and being associated with the club hiring him for his first big job.

Just going to throw it out there, rather than trying to sign 2 “elite” midfielders in the summer I’d consider this alternative: Go for one of Anderson, Baleba, Wharton (in that order) and then look at someone like Garner as the second CDM/CM option.
