Newark Event Focused on Peace with Russia, North Korea — Sunday, Jan 11th

The Center for Political Innovation will be hosting an afternoon and evening event at the Holiday Inn Newark, 160 Frontage Road, New Jersey. Doors will open at 1:30, with proceedings beginning shortly after 2pm.

The day’s events will focus on support for Donald Trump’s negotiations with Russia in the hopes of ending the Russia–Ukraine conflict and improving U.S. relations with Russia. The event will emphasize plans for the Bering Sea Tunnel connecting the United States to Russia via Alaska. Support for the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula and calls to continue talks between Trump and Kim Jong Un will be included. Another theme of the event will be new efforts by the Center for Political Innovation, the Uhuru Solidarity Movement, and a slew of other organizations to overturn the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), a repressive piece of legislation that enables lawfare against voices advocating peace.

At the event, three local activists will be presented with awards for their efforts to promote peace and friendship among the peoples of the world. Lisa Davis will be honored for her life of anti-imperialist and anti-racist work, including her efforts with the Black is Back Coalition and building solidarity with the Uhuru Three and their efforts to resist the Foreign Agents Registration Act. Christina Khalil will be honored for her electoral work as a Green Party candidate, highlighting the struggles of the Palestinians and the struggles of working families in New Jersey. Jessica Coco will be honored for her leadership of U.S. delegations to Russia and her years of relentless anti-war organizing, including her recent solidarity visit to Belarus.

Supporters of clergywoman Dr. Hak Ja Han, the 82-year-old “Mother of Peace,” who is currently on trial and held in detention in South Korea, will present about this case. A key organizer of the World Youth Festivals held in Sochi, Russia, will address the gathering. Radio personality and political analyst Garland Nixon will greet the gathering. Musical performances by a folk singer and a local church choir will take place. CPI founder and director Caleb Maupin will give a full-length keynote presentation.

A full dinner buffet will be provided to all registered attendees, along with an informational packet including some of the recently published Center for Political Innovation books. After dinner, a lengthy open mic Q&A discussion will take place in which all guests are welcome to participate.
