Very sad news that Stevie Bacon has died. He was a big West Ham character in every way and loved the club. Took some of the most iconic photos in Hammers' history. The fans chanted his name and he was even the subject of a fanzine strip cartoon. RIP, Steve.
As a boy in the early 80s I would pore over Hammer match programmes with Steve Bacon's name on every B&W action pic caption. I loved catching glimpses of him with camera and long lens at every WHU game I saw at the Boleyn or on TV. A claret and blue legend and icon. #RIPSteve
#RIP Steve Bacon. Used to love the full page of his West Ham photos in the Ilford Recorder each week. Doubt there were many photographers who had their name chanted by fans both home & away
Steve Bacon, West Ham’s legendary photographer, has passed away.
Steve worked for the club for over 30 years and captured some of the most memorable moments with his camera.
May he rest in peace. ❤️⚒️
So sad to hear that Stevie Bacon , a club legend , has passed. Top top bloke full of kindness. It’s a sad day however , it’s also a special day to celebrate a great life. Legend.
Really sad news coming out of West Ham tonight.
Steve Bacon has sadly passed away.
Most famous within the club as being the man that used to capture our past glories (and miseries!) on camera.
Top, top bloke and a very sore loss for the fanbase.
Fly high, Stevie❤️⚒️

Steve Bacon was someone we all grew up with. Newham Recorder = @onesteviebacon . He supported me in later times and I was grateful for that. A master of his art as proven by this iconic image. You only get this if you are close to the players. Nobody was closer than Steve ❤️
Stevie Bacon has died. Players came, players went. Stevie was always there until, like so many others, people who thought they knew better decided he was expendable. #OneStevieBacon
Whether at Upton Park or on the road, one man was always there, in all weathers perched ready to take the brilliant pictures which get posted on here and all over West Ham twitter. Steve Bacon was in my opinion one of the most important figures at the club⚒
Growing up, Steve Bacon was someone I was made aware of very early on as an important part of the clubs history. Apparently ALL of the players he worked with loved him and my own experience was one of a gentleman that just loved West Ham. Really sad to hear that he’s passed away.
So very sorry to hear of the death of Stevie Bacon, who for many years was the offical West Ham photographer at Upton Park. He was a real character and devoted to the Hammers. I took huge pleasure in publishing his autobiography some years ago. I hope he gets a clap tomorrow.
