NEW: The man who drove his car drunk through a nail salon, killing 4 people, including an off-duty NYPD officer, was found guilty of all charges.
Steven Schwally, 66, was found guilty of 4 counts of murder, assault, aggravated vehicular homicide, and DWI.
Prosecutors said Schwally's eyes were bloodshot, his speech was slurred, and his breath smelled of alcohol at the time of his arrest.
Schwally's blood alcohol content was .17, and he admitted to drinking until 3 or 4 in the morning the night before.
Schwally said he did not remember much of that day other than being in his car in the nail salon with his airbags deployed.
The victims were Ken Chen, owner of the salon, two employees, Yan Xu and Meizi Zhang, and Emilia Rennack, a 34-year-old off-duty NYPD officer.
Schwally recently suffered a heart attack and is in the ICU, so he was not present for the charges.
Christopher Cassar, Schwally’s attorney, said, "He had the heart attack because of the lies that he heard in that courtroom about him."
The sentencing for his crimes will be held on August 12, and the prosecutors are hoping he will make it so he can hear the families' testimonies.
