relief washes over alex but that doesn’t calm his mind down. instead it races more. he’s not one to think about this actions before doing them but one wrong move could potentially ruin what they have. even though henry’s eyes are telling a different story, he can’t help

but then henry realized just how close alex was to him in this moment, and the way he had asked..
“... a 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 one.” he reassures, eyes dropping down to alex’s lips briefly. “one where.. i can’t think straight because of you.”
one that almost scared him.
but think about all the different ways this can go wrong. hell, that’s how they ended up here in the first place. one wrong move and the royal wedding cake toppled onto the pair.
his eyes mirror henry’s, flickering to his lips and then back up to scan his face.
“ henry, ”

“ tell me, your majesty. ” he says almost pleading. between now and thirty seconds ago alex is far more closer to the prince than he’s been the whole night.
he could sense the change in henry’s demeanor but he couldn’t quite tell what it was. his body language was that of when they had first begun this journey of rekindling their friendship but his eyes ... they spoke something different.

blue hues roll slightly before he scoffs. henry still wasn’t used to how easily the other could get him worked up.
he was particularly good at being infuriating.
“i’m on whatever page ends this conversation quickest.” he retorts, sporting his own small smile, albeit more timid.
“ i don’t know henry. what page are 𝒚𝒐𝒖 on .ᐣ ” the brunnette grinned.
“ and i asked you first so i think that qualifies you to be the first to answer the question. ” his dimples more apparent than ever. he loved stepping on the prince’s toes. that was 𝒉𝒊𝒔 thing.
normally he'd jab or flirt back, it was their norm. henry had actually really grown to value his friendship with alex, but he thought it was just that. a friendship.
“what.. uh.” looking forward, gaze on alex's again. “what.. page are you on?”
Not friends or lovers but a secret third thing; something too difficult to name, too hard to describe. Too intimate to be platonic, too scared to cross the line into lovers. But the line is a circle and it always lead them back to each other.
