THE TRUTH ABOUT THE US BORDER

There are record high border patrol encounters, which unequivocally demonstrates that the GOP is LYING about “open borders."

There are more CBP agents now than ever. There are 24,000 full-time CBP agents. The Biden Administration added 800 active personnel. In addition, they added 2,500 National Guard personnel, 500 volunteer law enforcement and general support personnel, and 2,600 non-uniformed personnel to assist in processing facilities.

The primary cause of the migrant surge is poor economic conditions in the countries from which people are fleeing, coupled by the strength of the American economy. It cannot logically be blamed on the Biden Administration.

Though the primary causes of migration are outside of the control of any US Official, common-sense dictates that when the GOP repeatedly claims our border is “wide open,” people who are desperate for a better life will come in record numbers. GOP LIES help drive the current crisis.

Though each Administration has some leeway in determining their border policy, our core immigration laws have been the same since 1952. If we want to change the law, we need Congresspeople that are capable of compromise, not Congresspeople who control their base with LIES and ENFLAME the current crisis for their political benefit.

The Biden Administration did try to institute stringent new rules for asylum seekers in May of 2023. The policy included historically low quotas, requirements that asylum seekers have sought asylum protection in other countries they passed through, and a requirement that they schedule an appointment at an official point-of-entry. A Federal Judge struck down that policy.

We need COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM, but for that to be possible, we need reasonable, honest Congresspeople. The GOP's LIES and INCAPACITY TO COMPROMISE has paralyzed our Nation.
