Every Spurs player reads the same story before stepping on the court.
They've been doing it for 25 years.
It's not about basketball.
It's about a guy who won't stop hitting a rock.

Ball pressure increases your defensive ceiling, as it speeds up offences & forces rushed decisions
Jamal Shead is one of the best in the world at this
Here are a few things he did great on this play:
1️⃣ Active Feet — he is never stationary. Great defenders are always moving, bouncing on the balls of their feet to maintain an explosive athletic position
2️⃣ Creates Contact — Shead uses his chest to aggressively cut off ball handlers, initiating contact at the point of cut off
3️⃣ Anticipate Rather than React — the physicality he brings allows him to direct ball handlers to spots, & anticipate where they will counter
Active feet, anticipation, & physicality are the keys to being a good on-ball defender
Gabby Williams took care of business 💼
In the @valkyries' first Finals appearance, she dropped 26 PTS, 4 REB, 3 3PM & 2 AST to lead them to victory! Williams also ties for the 4th most points by a player in their Finals debut in WNBA History.

Basketball isn’t math. But if you can add and subtract, you can read transition.
Ask yourself three questions:
Who’s with me?
Who’s against me?
Who’s up next?
Scan the floor, count the numbers, and you’ll know whether to speed up or slow down. That read gives your team its biggest advantage in transition.
You can be the reason your team wins games in transition.

We can't expect our players to know how to handle adversity if we don't give them opportunities to practice it.

The late great Pete Maravich made his flashy NBA debut with the Hawks
His 5-year/$1.9M rookie contract was the richest contract ever offered to a college player at the time and was resented by some of his new teammates
Joe Mazzulla on why he wrote handwritten thank-you notes to staff throughout the Celtics organization after their championship.
“It’s easy for parts of the organization to feel not as valued as others...It was just important that everybody knew…everything they do is the most important thing for the team, for the organization.”
“Everybody matters” is a good message, but it means more when you tell someone how their work actually makes a difference.
Some people can see their contribution on the scoreboard. Others may wonder how much their work even matters.
Part of leading is helping people connect what they do each day to what the team is trying to accomplish.
