Once more, I thank any new followers of mine for thinking my thought in any way important enough to offer a passing thought on your timelines.
Currently, we are focusing on events on the Russo-Ukrainian War, but do note that at times I do interact with +18 accounts. Be warned!
It’s literally a replay of the 2019-2022 crisis where no one could form a stable coalition and they had to do literally five do-over elections. Netanyahu stayed in power for all but a few months and won back his majority at the end.
Isaac Saney of the Canadian Network on Cuba and a professor at Dalhousie University of Black and African diaspora studies and history:
“Many economists, many specialists in Cuba, point to the principal cause of the Cuban economic distress as being this unprecedented economic war waged against Cuba that has now become a genocidal siege.
It's become an obsession of Donald Trump, but particularly Marco Rubio, to starve an entire people into submission by deeming, by denying them basic access to trade, to fuel and the basic necessities.
One question I'd like to point out: What country could withstand this would stand what Cuba has done for the last nearly nine, ten months of this vicious, vicious economic warfare raids against it?
What would happen to Canada if somebody were to cut off its access to international trade and so forth? It would lead to chaos.
And so I think it's important to bear in mind that what Cuba is undertaking, as Julio has pointed out, with its 176 measures, has been long debated and discussed about improving the efficiencies of the economy.
But as the United Nations report and many scholars have pointed out in the studies, the principal cause of Cuba's economic distress is this is this criminal, illegal and immoral economic war waged by Washington.”
Baer's central thesis of Ottoman decline and collapse is linked to the decay of that universal aspiration and the increasing dependence first on narrow ethnic nationalism, and I think you can also see this in Austria, but also the USSR and perhaps it also explains Trumpism a bit
currently reading. a welcome revisionist history that depicts the Ottoman Empire as a Roman universal empire, rather than just Europe's Islamic Other. looking at it this way leads to some interesting parallels with the superpowers of the 19th/20th century
These people are delusional, truly.
There is no way to keep such a thing "short", as has been amply proven throughout the last year, much less one that will not be responded to in ways the Gulf States will hardly be "prepared for".
The U.S. has told several Gulf Arab countries to be prepared for a short, intense military campaign after the U.S. midterm elections, people briefed on the conversations said. -WSJ
Not going to pretend that the Arab parties are anything but ineffectual, but the reaction to Palestinian citizens of Israel increasing their turnout when almost the entire election was predicated on the idea that you could bypass them has been very funny.
I'm not even joking; When she said "there's so much news, some of it is even true" then "we know dubai isn't everyone's cup of tea" I shit you not the entire cinema burst out laughing.
This is absolutely the best possible result you can get from an Israeli election. A massively weakened Netanyahu bloc, an opposition with no real options, and pure political chaos and subsequent elections.
💥Huge victory for Arab-majority parties of Israel, with an estimated 18 Knesset seats. Netanyahu's bloc collapses from 68 to 50, if exit polls hold true. He has no way to form a government. The opposition bloc is declaring victory. The question is how Eisenkot will play it.
