It is close to 2025. When I google an obscure recipe, youtube shoots back with 20 others. I don't need that many Żurek recipes. Meanwhile Facebook offers me direct to door cocaine and other substances. What the hell is wrong with these algorithms?
@neuralreckoning For a postdoc in a very famous lab, I was asked to come up not with 1 but 10 projects. To my surprise this was not taken lightly and they were all discussed at length. Good but stressful experience. Met a guy at a conf who was cut short at 2. Loved his poster. Didn't pick it.
@KordingLab Currently working on pain scores from blood samples to better titrate analgesics. Longer aim is to prevent the apparition of chronic pain post-op. There's a chance. Pain sucks.
@Tugrul_Guner Knowing our strengths and weaknesses and stop pursuing unattainable goals (being the best can only be a fleeting beep on an ever refreshing radar) is called wisdom. I guess happiness or sadness comes from what you choose to use this wisdom toward.
@mameister4 And then you doubt yourself and have a famous professor and his team publishing what you already had regarding the SC but had too low of a position, money or PI interest to push through. (I love your paper and felt good someone else found the same thing, this isn't negative).
@lukesjulson Last thing I expected from neuro twitter was an old NIN reference. Also, after passing months writing unsuccessful grants in academia, I learnt you can write a passing one in a week-end in start-up land.
@drpeterrohde Interesting blog (from what I understood without quantum knowledge). We're starting using Graph neural nets with great results (sometimes beating transformers) but not sure why. You should have a chat with my engineers one day, could be fun.
@catgyoung It was the go to dip for raw vegetables in the 80s for kids in Québec. Told my wife, who is French, and she had a repulsed reaction and called it 'fat ketchup'.
@drpeterrohde@PhDVoice@PostdocVoice Understanding that although your PI wants your best, you're not the first thing in their mind at all time and it is normal.
@markfrommacq@ProudyMan1 Ah Sydney's roaches. I remember waking up in the middle of the night, opening the light and seeing ~100 of those beauties sucking on my wooden cutting board. The smashing rampage was fun, less so thinking about how long they had been at it.
