أعلنت إسرائيل عن طرح مناقصة لبناء نحو 1400 وحدةٍ سكنية في المشروع الاستيطاني الأخطر على الإطلاق (E1)، والذي يهدف إلى فصل القدس بشقيها الشرقي والغربي عن الضفة الغربية بحاجز سكني استيطاني.

وكانت إسرائيل قد وعدت أوروبا ودولاً عربية انضمت إلى اتفاقيات إبراهام بإيقاف المشروع الذي أُعيد استئنافه الآن، ما دفع وزير الخارجية البريطاني إلى التعليق والتهديد بأن بريطانيا لن تقف مكتوفة الأيدي، ولن تقبل بإلغاء حل الدولتين؛ فردّ وزير الخارجية الإسرائيلي "ساعر" بأن للإسرائيليين الحق في الإقامة والسكن أينما يريدون على أرضهم التاريخية.

هذا التصعيد الإسرائيلي يحطم آمال البعض ممن لا يزالون يؤمنون بأن الدبلوماسية السياسية يمكنها إعادة جزء من الحقوق ، بدولة فلسطينية وحق تقرير المصير .
