@larimore_ben @elonmusk A “duty” is an import tax on an item, say 10% on all purses. A “tariff” is a 50% tax on Chinese purses. So in effect, purses from everywhere else would cost the same and Chinese purses would increase. In practice, Chinese factories just lower the price and they pay the tax.
