@legsidelizzy Surprised you haven’t joined the dots about this decision to choose Root over Brook in the way that every England fan has been able to do.
@Burton15Marcus@lancscricket He was chuckling about the run out and thought the game was won. Cooke looked angry at how the wicket had fallen and looked determined to go down swinging. He did better than that, aided by brainless bowling in those last two overs. Shambolic
@Burton15Marcus@lancscricket Cooke (who did most of the damage at the end) should have been caught by Balderson off the non-striker. Made no attempt to catch it. Belatedly ran out the non striker but Cooke was the danger. 11 balls later the game’s lost.
@OldManWinter999@lancscricket Correct. Half a season of modest improvement after Benky left shouldn’t have made him an automatic choice. Still very inexperienced at this level of coaching. I would have preferred Justin Langer. Abrasive, doesn’t accept excuses and demands discipline.
@howiehok3434 Yeah totally desperate to return to the days when the very best we could hope for was to get to an FA cup quarter final (and then lose at home to Tottenham).
@MaybePod Not at that top 5 level…but last minute defeat to rags 2-3 in 93/94 was a sickener. And losing 2-3 at Notts County in May 1985 made for a tense last day (but ended brilliantly with the Charlton 5-1 promotion party).
@LancsCCMG …. And still there remain vocal apologists for this shambolic operation. Such people seem to interpret any attempts to hold the Board to account as acts of gross insubordination. Wake up!
@thegingerwig Yep. Lived near Maine Rd then. Mate collected me at 615pm, somehow got us to Villa park and into ground just after kick off, to see the first goal. So many blues there, behind one goal and at the side, which is where we were. Fantastic night. Everything clicked for Whitey.
