Let's not bury our heads in the sand about these creeping issues which illustrate a disconnect between the good of homeowners and the tightening climate-change-control agenda of big government. Let's start addressing them.
Energy codes are causing potential homeowners slowly but surely lose real estate and the ability to afford construction projects. Requiring more insulation in walls, thereby increasing their thickness, steadily is shrinking the useable space in houses. This is not good. ๐งต
And my second suggestion:
Regarding ADU sizes, calculate the area starting at the interior face of the wall structure (i.e., wood studs) rather than the exterior face or, heaven forbid, the outside of siding. Again, those brick walls really hurt without this allowance.
