A third of British children don’t know red squirrels exist in the UK, and 1 in 10 can’t identify one from a photo.
Reds are disappearing while non-native grey squirrels dominate much of the country.
If children are going to protect our wildlife, they need to know it exists.
Victorians said “what’s the worst that could happen?”
Then:
❌ Sent kids up chimneys
❌ Invented workhouses
❌ Smogged up London
❌ Introduced GREY SQUIRRELS
That aged badly!
Now red squirrels are paying the price
Let’s do better: support conservation & protect UK wildlife
