Japan’s government is firmly rejecting foreign efforts to censor anime and manga.
At the NicoNico Chokaigi convention, Minister Kimi Onoda declared that the global success of otaku culture comes purely from the passion of its creators and fans, not from politicians or outside influence.
A known otaku with production experience, she promised the Japanese government will never interfere in creative decisions and will actively shield artists from any foreign complaints or pressure.

Crunchyroll is unavailable in Japan due to licensing restrictions.
This geo-block means Japanese audiences never see the Western-localized versions of anime, where subtitles are often rewritten, content is censored, and dubs are altered without anyone noticing the changes.
Crunchyroll in the last two years has increased their prices by 20% after a series of controversies and removal of features. They now have less quality control and features than 2024. However they think its okay to raise prices for their horrible product. https://t.co/aOrQna4Z29
Crunchyroll 100% hates Re:Zero and actively sabotages the product at every turn.
The lack of advertising they've been doing for it and not even posting the new trailers is damning. Especially when they are in control of the "Official English" ReZero account.
