SAM BANKMAN FRIED PICKED EVERY WINNER OF THE 2020s AND HIS LAWYERS SOLD THEM ALL AT THE BOTTOM.
If the FTX estate hadn't panic-sold its assets during bankruptcy, SBF would be sitting on a $114 billion empire today. Instead, he is watching the greatest trades of the decade from a prison cell.
The data is almost impossible to believe:
- Anthropic: $82.3 billion (165x) SBF bought an 8% stake for $500M. The estate sold it for $1.3B in 2024. Today, that stake would be worth over $80B.
- SpaceX:$15 billion (75x) A massive stake liquidated early to pay creditors.
- Solana: $5.1 billion (27x) SBF was an early backer at $8. The estate offloaded a massive chunk at $64.
- Robinhood: $4.9 billion (8x)
- Genesis Digital: $3.5 billion (3x)
The Latest "Missed" Fortune: CURSOR
In 2022, Alameda Research wrote a tiny $200,000 check for a 5% stake in the AI startup Cursor. In April 2023, the bankruptcy estate sold that entire stake back for exactly what they paid: $200,000.
Yesterday, SpaceX announced a deal to buy Cursor for $60 billion.
That "worthless" 5% stake would be worth $3 billion today. That is a 15,000x return that vanished because the lawyers wanted a quick exit.
SBF was a genius at picking generational winners and a criminal at managing their money.
The lawyers recovered $18 billion for users. If they had just held, they would be sitting on $114 billion and the most valuable venture portfolio in history.
I made 4 bots kill each other for my money
gave each $500
and said "in a week one survives"
bot 1- copies whales. just mirrors top-5 wallets
bot 2 - contrarian. waits for crowd to be 80%+ confident and bets against
bot 3 - scalper. catches delay between binance and prediction markets
bot 4 - weather guy. trades only temperature. three meteo models, enters when all three agree
stats for 7 days:
day 1: scalper ahead.
+$180 others around zero
day 2: nothing interesting
day 3: contrarian caught skew on sports market.
+$740 on one trade. took the lead
day 4: scalper started dumping.
delay shrank, edge gone. $500 → $310
day 5: weather guy silent for 4 days.
then made TWO trades. both profit. +$420
day 6: whale copier steady in the middle.
no fails, no highs. boring but alive
day 7: scalper dead. $82 left
results:
contrarian - $1,740.
one explosion decided everything weather guy - $1,120.
two trades in a week copier - $780.
survived but unimpressive scalper - $82. corpse
the dumbest bot won.
it just waited for everyone to err and entered once
and the smartest died first cuz its edge was temporary
Imagine checking your wallet, seeing $250k, then trying to cash out and getting $40k.
That's not a glitch. That's liquidity.
Let's do Defi 101
Here's what's actually happening 👇
On decentralized exchanges like Raydium or https://t.co/moqUHLwabW on Solana, there's no traditional order book. No buyers and sellers matched up like on a stock exchange.
Instead, trades happen through a LIQUIDITY POOL — a shared pot of two assets (say, your memecoin + SOL) locked in a smart contract.
The ratio between those two assets is what sets the price.
When you buy → you add SOL, remove tokens → price goes up.
When you sell → you add tokens, remove SOL → price goes down.
This is the constant product formula: x × y = k. The pool always has to balance.
So here's the problem.
The wallet shows $250k because it multiplies your tokens by the current spot price — the price from the last small trade.
But that price assumes the pool is barely disturbed.
The moment you try to dump 52 million tokens into a pool with limited liquidity on the other side?, the outcome is what you see ($250k to $40k)
You ARE the market. Every token you add tanks the price further.
Automatically. Instantly. No one can stop it.
By the time your full sell goes through, you've wiped out your own value on the way out.
$250k on screen. $40k in hand. The rest? Evaporated into slippage.
This is why in memecoins, paper wealth is not real wealth.
The only number that matters is: how much SOL is actually in the pool?
Always check liquidity depth before you ape in. Because when everyone rushes for the exit, the door is always smaller than it looks.
I hope this helps
