If 80% of disabled people live in the Global South, why are conversations about disability so often limited to congenital conditions and individual diagnoses? Rarely do ppl talk about disabilities produced by war, incarceration, gender-based violence, etc.
If we are going to call the cost of public services a “loss,” then Canadian police forces lost $20 billion last year while delivering no birthday presents and also killing a lot of people.
BREAKING: Canada exported $14.6 million of military goods to Israel in 2025, according to data released today by Global Affairs Canada.

last night ICE beat and bloodied me and my friends. they pushed a protester under the wheel of a truck, crushing his foot. they’re sadistic freaks who revel in violence. i can’t imagine what they’re doing to prisoners inside.
abolish ICE and throw every one of them in prison
‘“Unhoused people are not being removed because they are dangerous. They are being removed because their presence conflicts with the image @FIFAWorldCup demands,” the Toronto advocates wrote.
“All the money that we spend on that could actually be really successful money spent on housing and long-term solutions.” The Toronto Underhoused and Homeless Union is demanding that security guards at Union Station be replaced by harm reduction workers and that 24/7 respite centres be made available during and in the lead-up to the World Cup.
The group is also calling for an end to the closures of shelters and supervised consumption sites, arguing that without places to go, more and more homeless people will seek shelter in places like Union Station.’
Horrific reports coming out of both Lebanon and Palestine tonight of widespread systematic Israeli colonial violence. A colony that is truly structurally genocidal. There can be no path forward without its total and permanent abolition.
Norrad Bouzide, a harm reduction worker and advocate from Toronto and a Global Sumud Flotilla activist, arrived back in Toronto after Israel illegally detained and tortured activists.
On his T-shirt: “The Government of Canada enabled my torture!”
It serves a political purpose to create the problem of open air drug use, especially in an urban centre like Toronto. Conservatives can claim that "crime is everywhere!" and weaponize the public's fear. No matter that they created the problem. No matter that thousands will die.
Ford has already told young people facing record unemployment to "get off your ass" and find a job
Now Doug is telling families facing evictions & homelessness with Bill 60 to "go find a job"
ON deserves a gov't that lifts people up, not one that kicks them when they are down.
While wearing a JDL sweatshirt, Gabriella Bodis was arrested after threatening to attack Palestine protesters with a corrosive chemical product. 5 media mentions in Canada.
At a peaceful Palestine protest, an IDF soldier broke glass and hurt himself. 175 mentions and counting.
Just got off the horn with CSIS, RCMP, FBI, CIA, DHS, ICE, Mossad and other agencies on Skype. They said they’re locking me up, no question, after seeing all the tweets they were tagged in yesterday. They’ll add a year each time the site is shared.

This is how you stand up against systemic injustice.
The civilians of this world are the only ones who can change it, as proven by politicians' impotence the last 2 years.
To the rest of the world, we ask: Are you ready to join the Italians?
From The Times of Israel article “‘I’m afraid to go home’: Canadian IDF soldiers fear fallout from war crimes probe”:
“When Nati Hubberman was given back his phone in March after weeks of reserve duty on Israel’s northern front, he was inundated with messages from friends about a website he’d never heard of.
‘People were texting me saying, “Watch out, your name is on it,”’ he said. ‘It’ was Find IDF Soldiers, a site created in February by Davide Mastracci, a Canadian journalist who has harshly criticized Israel, accusing it of orchestrating a ‘planned genocide in Gaza.’
Mastracci, an editor for an outlet called the Maple, aimed to identify Canadians who had fought for the Israel Defense Forces, either during the current war or previously. At the time, Hubberman said, the exposure felt disturbing but marginal.
Then, in June, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced that it had opened an investigation into ‘matters related to the Israel-Hamas armed conflict,’ with the possibility of uncovering ‘a perpetrator of core international crimes — such as genocide, war crimes, or crimes against humanity.’”

NEW: As Gaza starves and Palestinians are slaughtered while trying to get food, we should remember the writers who called for UNRWA to be dismantled. I’ve compiled a list of them who made these arguments in Canadian newspapers since October 7.
