After finishing Season 2 of Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender, I really feel like people here are exaggerating the hate and just cherry-picking the worst parts. Overall, I think it’s an improvement over Season 1, including visually. The cinematography and VFX are mostly great, and the action is solid as well. Acting-wise, the Fire Nation's royal family continues to be the strongest part of the show. And I also liked Toph.

One issue in Season 1 was Katara. In the original show, she has a very prominent and strong personality, but here she felt like she had almost no presence. I blame the writing, not the actress. I actually think she’s a good fit for the role. Season 2 handles her character better, but it’s still not quite there yet. Hopefully that improves in Season 3.

It also feels like the show realized that this version of Sokka just isn’t very funny - or that the writers struggle with humor - so they’ve mostly stopped trying to make him crack jokes. Honestly, that’s probably for the best.

There were some changes I liked and some I didn’t. I do wish there was a bit more filler and that sense of childlike charm that the original series had.

The show’s biggest problem is still the writing - it’s just not very good. I really wish they had stronger writers involved.

Overall, I’d give this season a 7/10. It’s definitely an improvement over Season 1, and I’m still excited for Season 3.
