@jada_tbk LOL my team once got a "turn this ship around" implying that we all suck and we can be leaders (without the monetary compensation). Great read. 🧐
...I'm gonna slow my roll a bit. I want to keep getting better, but not 2+ hours of grinding and pissing myself off every night. What's the point of it all if I'm not enjoying it? We'll see where to go from here.
So I set an arbitrary Melee goal for myself that I would be ranked top 10 in PGH before I die. I think I burned a bit too bright and fast and am ALREADY rethinking it. Ultimately, I want to work at Melee and see what it teaches me about life, but...
...maybe Melee already taught me something valuable. How much do I really care about being top 10? What value or joy does it bring to my life? Is it worth the time investment and emotional repercussions? I don't know the answer to these. So...
It only took 1.5 months before I started second guessing my goals with Melee. That said, I gave myself a little bit of patience and grace. I wonder what Melee can teach me about my mental health.
@FictionIRL Trackmania track of the day has divisions--first round puts you into pairs of 64ish then those groups battle for 1st in their division.
This seems like a good way to keep lower levels competitive/engaged
@jada_tbk I'm definitely outside of pgh pr skill wise, so prioritize literally any other fox before me, but I'm big into growth rn--so if there are specific things you want to lab I'm happy to be a guinea pig/sandbag
@jada_tbk Honestly that piece of TOing a local is so important. I was shocked how many people remembered me almost 8 years later. How else will the scene grow if we aren't inviting to new players? 🧡
I was like "oh cool this is an ok string I guess this'll be nice to look back on," then I realized the last clip was literally the same up-b angle. I'm soOoOo cool.
All that to say...if there is anyone that has specific goals for their Melee career and would be interested in a little bit of accountability/partnership to reach it, I'd be happy to set up a little community and collaborate to reach our goals :) reply or DM
While I aim to get ranked on the Pittsburgh PR someday, I am more aware now of how important it is to build genuine relationships with others in the scene. I think one more organic way of doing this is building a structure around achieving our goals. (1 of x)
In collaborating to reach these goals, we get a lot of things...
1. Sparring partner
2. Second pair of eyes to provide constructive feedback on improvement
3. Someone to cheer you on
4. Maybe lifelong friends who tf knows?
5. Other? (3 of x)
