Hello, this is Park Gunwook of ZEROBASEONE.
I am posting this message because I would like to offer my sincere apology regarding my actions at a recent fansign event.
At the time, I should have exercised greater judgment and acted more carefully, but I failed to do so. I take very seriously the fact that my actions caused confusion and hurt to many people. I sincerely apologize to those who were confused and hurt because of my shortcomings.
Even though I have always deeply valued the feelings and support that fans send me, I am sorry that I was unable to show a side of myself that lived up to those feelings. I will not take this matter lightly and will sincerely reflect on my actions.
To all the ZEROSE who supported, trusted, and cheered for us throughout this album promotion, I am sorry once again for disappointing you. I would also like to apologize to my fellow ZEROBASEONE members and to the staff who work hard alongside us.
Going forward, I will act more carefully and sincerely reflect so that I can grow into someone who is worthy of the trust that ZEROSE place in me.
Once again, I am truly sorry.
my last comment because it is infuriating and this so coming from someone who appreciates some kpop - secure cultures do NOT have problem naming influence and appreciating other cultures and understanding roots
Why this trigger huge response is that there has been many times where Korean govt culturally appropriated Chinese culture and called it their own because they “added local elements”
Let me ask you - do you accept that? If someone else took hip hop, localized it then claimed it as their own even going to UNESCO to file for claim would you not be upset?
Yet they did that with Danoje festival (actually duanwujie but they “localized it”). They did that with traditional Chinese medicine (they merged Chinese medicine and their local practices into a book and claimed TKM). These became onto UNESCO list
Why Chinese new year is so controversial
Koreans learned from Chinese the movable types made of wood in the 10th century, and of clay or ceramics in 11th century, which was used in printing in China well through Qing dynasty in 19th century. They took that, made an adjustment and claimed it was their invention.
They refuse to mention the influences Chinese scholars had on them over many years of cultural exchange - especially how the Ming dynasty deeply influenced Korean culture, their king and royalty.
Google these up and it is FILLED with news articles about this and their scholars are all in on it but if you ask scholars outside it is different. They also get the support because of course everyone hates China
See the resemblance now? See why there are kpop artists happy to claim rap and hip hop in their Korean style as “representing Korea” ?
It’s absurd. At least name your influence.
Why I liked newjeans is min hee Jin always names the influences. They didn’t claim they owned new jack swing. They didn’t play nationalism mediaplay like the company I dislike
But I just need to explain why the Chinese are so upset. It’s not one time two times. It is very deliberate over many times.
What if I told you that Dior is nothing more than a shameless thief of Chinese culture? What’s the fucking problem with Chinese people taking back what’s rightfully ours?
"Aha Instant" | Himeko • Nova
"not matter how tangled our pasts or how distant the future, our bond remains unchanged. I am Himeko, Navigator of the Astral Express — and your family, always looking out at the same horizon as you."
Some fight by your side, while others watch over you, the Trailblaze is never a solitary voyage.
She paints a trailblazing miracle. The silver rail stretches on, and the Nameless set sail once more, illuminating the galaxy's eternal night. At the end of the line, she looks back once again. The dream of setting forth has never run aground.
