Saheb, the local youth who appears in a video alleging that Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma slapped him during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar, said he had pointed out the poor condition of the road to the minister. He alleged that Verma’s associates also threatened to kill him, adding that police were present at the spot. Saheb said an FIR has been lodged and demanded an apology and disciplinary action against the minister.

You missed to mentiom that the person who led the protest in support of Gyanesh Kumar claims to be a Senior Leader of BJP.

The media will run the story:

“CM himself began the demolition drive from his own ancestral home for road widening.”

What it probably won’t tell you is the other part of the story.

This road widening is part of a larger infrastructure push that is expected to drive up land values in Ujjain. And that matters because a recent Indian Express investigation found that the CM’s family and family-linked real-estate companies acquired at least 168 acres across 137 plots for ₹45 crore after he became Chief Minister.

Even more interestingly, the investigation found that around 111 acres of that land lies alongside road and highway projects announced by his government.

So while the cameras show the CM’s ancestral home giving way for a wider road, there is another question worth asking:

Who owns the land around these new roads, and who stands to benefit when its value goes up?

The Indian Express put those questions to the CM and his office. They did not respond to the newspaper’s detailed questionnaire.

ECINET is finally under review. But only after the damage was done.

On 26 September 2026, the Election Commission of India ordered a committee to review ECINet, the platform that now runs ERONET, its electoral roll software. It took a national newspaper investigation, dissent from two of the ECI's own Election Commissioners, and an uproar across the country to get even this far.

West Bengal did not have the luxury of waiting.

During the West Bengal SIR, 1.25 crore voters were pushed onto the "logical discrepancy" list. Spelling mismatches were one of the biggest reasons behind logical discrepancy deletions in the state.

Spelling mismatches mostly were not fraud or ghost voters. They were simply the names the software could not match.

Now look at what ECINET produced in the supplementary lists the ECI published on its own website:
→ A voter's name printed in Kannada on a Bengali roll, with no age or gender
→ Names printed in Gurmukhi, and "4th floor" mangled into gibberish
→ "Amisha Khatun" spelt out letter by letter as "A-M-I-S-H-A K-H-A-T-U-N"
→ A house number replaced by "Part No. 227, Part Serial No. 1188"

If this is what ECINET does to names on a page, how many genuine voters did it fail to match against the old rolls?

Even the most advanced AI/ML transliteration and OCR models in the world have an error rate

What is ECINET's error rate? Nobody knows.
Which transliteration engine converted these names? Nobody knows.
Which OCR model read the old rolls? Nobody knows.
What was it tested on, and who audited it? Nobody knows.

The ECI has not published a single specification for the software that decided whose names "matched" and whose were flagged. Yet its output put crores of voters under suspicion and fed into decisions that struck names off the rolls.

A citizen's right to vote cannot hinge on a black box.

Analysis like this involves cleaning large datasets, matching constituency-level records, running statistical comparisons, and working with satellite data - all of which takes time, computing resources, and sustained research effort.
