@ThomasKlineMD I learned to dissociate from pain as a very young child out of necessity. Otherwise, all I would do is scream. I've never had a pain-free day in my life.
@JaymetheRN I grew up in the 70s, and my experience was that males grabbed, groped, inappropriately treated us DAILY. It wasn’t just my classmates; some of the teachers were just as bad.
@nomoretired2023 I only go to the ER if I know what’s wrong with me, and I know it requires hospitalization and/or surgery. My medical condition is too rare and complex for most ER physicians to understand and treat, so I don’t ask them to.
Donald Trump and his transition team are already breaking the law.
I would know because I wrote the law.
Incoming presidents are required to prevent conflicts of interest and sign an ethics agreement.

@InsularEntropy@ACSHorg@ibdgirl76 Thank you for sharing this. I may qualify due to my own severe convergence issues related to a traumatic brain injury.
@PainNewsNetwork Until a 2 months ago, I wouldn’t have considered using a mail-back program. But that was before I used an opioid medication that was so intolerable that I tried to give it to my doctor, because I didn’t want it in my house. He refused it.
Women do not get raped because of their clothes.
Women do not get raped because of their attitude.
Women do not get raped because of their morals.
Women do not get raped because of anything they did wrong.
Women get raped because men choose to rape them.
@broadwaybabyto Never had a pain-free day in my life, and my earliest memory was a severe pain episode at 3yo. Somehow my parents also missed my double vision, digestion problems, recurrent infections, poor growth, and difficulty walking. My whole life was invisible.
🚨Today we published a comment opposing a performance metric based on *prescribed opioid dose*
The @ACPIMPhysicians endorsement for that metric, published in @AnnalsofIM puts the leading organization for internal medicine doctors in opposition to the CDC
This year the CDC has twice urged such quality measures not be used, since they caused actual harm to patients. We quote the 1st author of the CDC’s prescribing guideline on the harm such quality measures have caused.
Our comment is signed by myself, Kurt Kroenke & Matt Bair of Indiana University, Adam Gordon of University of Utah. All are leading researchers in primary care responses to pain or addiction.

"Our patients deserve a more thoughtful approach to pain care policy than one that blindly embraces unilateral opioid reductionism."

@purplemamabear@InsularEntropy Justice? No. I barely survived. It took a year for me to recover, and fighting with the hospital wasn’t something that I had the strength to do. This was during the height of the pandemic, so I was alone and had no witnesses.
@purplemamabear@InsularEntropy This happened to me 4 years ago, post op from open abdominal surgery and sepsis. My prior regimen pain meds were d/c and I went thru withdrawal in ICU. Hospitalist refused to consult my pain mgmt physician who had privileges at the hospital.
My glasses helped me become the writer, comedian and actor that I am. We need to help all children to see clearly and fulfill their potential. It is that time of year to get your glasses on and #LoveYourEyes. 🩷 #WorldSightDay
