Ten years ago today I officially began my <disconnected payphones> project. Since then I've made 247 photos of ~ 277 phones (counting pairs & rows) in at least nine states, plus DC. "Collect them all!" remains my motto 📞

Had a fun time at a work retirement party, alongside prior retirees flipping through newly unearthed photo scrapbooks & telling each other stories. The handwritten metadata (events, dates, & names) certainly spurred their memories. Word is working here in the 1980s was the best.

Some things surely made some folks cringe - blood drives, Halloween costume contests, staff picnics, years of service award ceremonies - but it seemed clear from the photos there was more laughter & camaraderie then than now, when most of us sit in front of computers all day.
