With 28 Days to go, it seems like the South African National Hockey Team are having a hard time heading to the 2026 FIH World Cup.
They're trying to raise R2M between roughly 60 people.
That's R33 333 a head.
Considered in perspective that we have degenerates in government spending R436,619 a head for showboating at FIFA, some very serious moral questions arise.
You can't fund a national hockey player at R33K a head, but you can take some random podcaster on a trip at R440K a head.
Cool story, bro.
This is heartbreaking. Our taxes are used to fund extravagant travel expenses for celebrities to go and watch the World Cup while athletes have to pay their own way to participate in world sporting events. I reject this failed Minister @GaytonMcK
If you were genuinely outraged that financially disadvantaged athletes are being excluded from sport, you probably wouldn't spend R31 million on FIFA trips.
Meanwhile, some of our national teams are running crowdfunding campaigns just to represent South Africa internationally.
Apparently, there's money for VIP seats... just not for the people actually wearing the national jersey or the kids trying to make those teams.
Our junior Track and Field team has to find their own flights etc.
Very sad that some of our athletes have to stay home due to funds.
Some athletes are literally R20 000 - R30 000 sort.
I’m sorry but this is extremely disappointing and sad
Not my football boys asking if there are other BTS performances they can watch “because that one was a bit too short, no?”
I AM NOT RECOVERING FROM THIS.😭😭😭
