@DrTab3#BakerGradLaw Don't like this move by WWE. You never want to see "force" and "contract" in the same context because that raises obvious legal issues. WWE is abusing its power as the only legitimate big-time employer of pro fighters knowing they have few, if any, other options
@DrTab3#BakerGradLaw Both parties raise reasonable points but I'm siding with UFC. No CBA means the UFC doesn't have to guarantee a % of revenue, and it is the NFL of MMA, meaning it can operate as a legal monopoly. A 600% increase in fighter compensation over the last 15 years signals
@DrTab3#BakerGradLaw I think the fines are appropriate for COVID violations, but I doubt they will be effective based on how little $100,000 is to a Power 5 program, especially in the SEC. Coaches not wearing masks undermines their importance, so fines need to increase to make an impact
@DrTab3 but since the NBA has no obligation to create tributes, the league is not in the wrong. I would not be surprised if a tribute gets released shortly following this criticism though
@DrTab3#BakerGradLaw The NBA is not in the wrong for not creating some sort of tribute to RBG, but it comes as more of a surprise as the NBA is the most socially active of the main US sports leagues. It is difficult to find a legit reason why John Lewis was honored and not RBG...
@DrTab3 I think, though, that fans should have more leeway in what is allowed on their signs, especially if the message is not malicious/untrue. Removing a sign that says "free Hong Kong" may be pleasing to China but may also have negative effects at home. As always, it's pros vs cons
@DrTab3#BakerGradLaw A sports league at its core is simply a business that is trying to turn a profit. As noted in the paper, speech that is economically detrimental to business operations may not be protected, and I agree that leagues should have a role in policing such speech.
