Shannon Phillips exemplifies what it means to be a public servant and to stand up for what you believe in. I had the great fortune of working with Shannon when she was Minister of Environment, Parks & Climate Change on some very important projects, including flood mitigation for Calgary. She fought to protect Albertans then and has continued to do so throughout her time in office. I’ve been lucky to call Shannon a friend and have benefitted from her advice and insights.

During her time in politics, she’s dealt with things no one should have to. While I understand and appreciate Shannon’s reasoning for stepping down, it’s disheartening that the public discourse and outright intimidation from police officers in her own city means we are losing an incredible female public servant. Alberta is undoubtedly better for her service. @SPhillipsAB, thank you.

I’m so proud of the nursing students who are calling for paid practicum placements in Canada. I don’t see why nursing students can’t enjoy paid practicums like medical students in Canada. This is where the disrespect for female-dominated professions like nursing stems from. It’s time to change things up!

Today is North America's first supervised consumption site (Insite) 20 year anniversary event and I am truly grateful and humbled to be the MC. My last overdose was Feb 18th 2013. I laid motionless on the floor of booth 5. When I gained consciousness, the nurse told me how much she cared about me and I just burst into tears 😭 It was a moment of humanity I needed. I told her I didn't want to do this anymore and began to change my life. This facility is so much more than a safe place to use drugs; it provides people with human connection, something we all need in our lives. Today I have over a decade sober, a family and an amazing life and none of this would be possible without this supervised consumption site! I have never forgotten everyone's love and support through both the dark and good times. #harmreduction

@WestJet delays our flight 3.5 hrs. Then another hour this morning. Gives us $15x8 vouchers but only 2/8 vouchers are valid. All the rest are declined at the terminal.
