@itz_literally @castlvillageman@benhabib6 But one such device or another holds everywhere in the world. Called eminent domain in the United States. Fairly compensated, of course, individual landholders cannot reasonably be allowed to deny a region necessary infrastructure
@lasee_frank@AssaadRazzouk Doubtful you reply in good faith, but I’ll try: global water does absorb air heat: “our global ocean has a very high heat capacity. It has absorbed 90% of the warming that has occurred in recent decades due to increasing greenhouse gases.” https://t.co/vH93A56SIY
@ELuttwak Thankfully you seem to have paused your negotiations drumbeat, as if Putin would ever have granted externally supervised elections in the occupied territories in any possible universe
@watsonmd@DavidAFrench@JonahDispatch Yes, one generally moves defense assets nearer the point of threat. Unless one is of the school of “they took away the trade union members, but I was not a trade union member, so I did not say anything . . .”
@thriftycars SFO line, okay after 1 hour 45 minutes I get to an agent, nice person but no car available! Told to stand aside and she’ll call me when one shows up. Meanwhile everyone else walks away with their car. No alternate car offered despite long wait. Terrible service, no?
@thriftycars Effectively three lines of 50 feet each in front of me, photo doesn’t do it justice. Behind me 200+ feet, can’t see the end of the line. Four agents this whole time, though bookings tell you how many customers are coming and approx. when— isn’t this abusive?
My uncle died from cancer last week. He worked for freedom mortgage and they denied him medical leave when the man was dying. All week they’ve been calling and fedexing him letters threatening his job because he didn’t show up to work BECAUSE HE WAS DEAD.
@allenf32@jasonhickel What people actually want is substantially a product of what sellers induce people to want. And what sellers produce is substantially a product of what they think they can induce people to want. That system can move buyers miles from what all of us need: a healthy environment
@Kevin_McKernan@IndiciaObscure@vanessainstem In studies comparing health events in groups with and without a past covid diagnosis, what % increase in such events among those w/ past covid would convince you that post-illness harms of getting covid are 1) not coincidence + 2) something worth substantial effort to avoid?
