I’ve read them, but they still don’t explain why Jesus renames Simon "Rock". In Scripture, a God-given name signals a role, not just an idea. And you’re skipping the clearest part: the keys are given to him in the singular "I give you the keys… whatever you bind…" echoing Book of Isaiah 22:22. That’s an office given to a person.

He’s sharing the daily Gospel reading from the Church’s liturgical calendar. The Church assigns Scripture readings for every day of the year so that the whole world reflects on the same Word together. If you attend daily Mass, you’ll hear nearly the entire Bible in about three years.
