HONTIVEROS, LAPID, DIOKNO AND MORE UNUSUAL NAMES SURFACE IN OVP FUND RECEIPTS

The House prosecution has presented additional acknowledgment receipts bearing the signatures of individuals identified as alleged recipients of the Office of the Vice President’s confidential funds.

The new documents include names of individuals who share surnames with public officials such as Hontiveros, Lapid, and Diokno, as well as names resembling food items such as “pampano,” “keso,” “kamote,” and “mango.”

House prosecution counsel Lorna Kapunan commented on the unusual names as the prosecution presented the additional receipts.

The prosecution presented more acknowledgment receipts bearing the signatures of individuals identified as alleged recipients of confidential funds from the Office of the Vice President.

"And they want us to appear before the clerk of court to compare documents on August 14. For what purpose, Your Honor? Now, the text message is even more disturbing because apart from saying sa August 14 na lang, they even disclaimed the fact that this honorable court said Thursday or Friday last week. ‘THEY DON’T HAVE ENOUGH LAWYERS DAW’

Atty. Lorna Kapunan said that the defense team of Vice President Sara Duterte allegedly claimed they did not have enough lawyers after the scheduled meeting with the House prosecution team last week did not push through.

“If counsel will say we are not given the opportunity first, they were given the opportunity; they refused. The reason being, number one, they don’t have enough lawyers daw,” Kapunan said on Tuesday.

“We heard in an interview that they did not have enough lawyers and couldn’t schedule, couldn’t follow the directives of the presiding officer. 15 lawyers for the defense, they did not have enough lawyers nor the time to comply,” she added.
