@brittneyfoliver@drjervin@TED_ED I love when the TedEd videos like this. They keep the students engaged and the clarify terms that may have been causing confusion. great vid!
@drjervin@TED_ED#A5#educ2100 my fav TedEd video is https://t.co/OtWphGm1uo… about the electoral college. It uses fun animations to explain a very complicated process and the history behind it, keeping anyone watching engaged. #ElectoralCollege
@Michael41166388@drjervin I also want to strive to make students understand that they can learn content anywhere they are- at home, at church, even an airport. When it becomes real to learn, they become excited and motivated and even more preceptive of the world around them
@drjervin a4 #EdUC2100 I plan to implement the student-based compentency principle. alot of teachers move on even if some students don’t fully grapse the content, but I intend to make sure that the students arengaged&able to adapt their skills with assessments that match their skill level.
@CalebFasnacht you could even allow them to present a project idea that proves to you as the teacher they understand the material , which can be a huge risk, but will definitely reflect interest and creativity.
This also includes letting the students do activities on their level. for example as an early ed major, it means letting them roam around, playfun games and allowing MANY questions and taking extra time to complete work because theyre easily distractible.
A5 #cuchat The key to student motivation is creating lessons that involvs their interests! As a teacher, that will take extra time of getting to know your students and getting out of your comfort zone, resulting in content that will keep them engaged.
A4 #cuchat when you have a class or even a few students who love to learn, the teaching process becomes interactive for both students and teacher. ideas are bounced off of each other, expanding the classroom borders and introducing new experiences.
@CalebFasnacht My teachers most of the time always had music playing in the classroom either coming into the class in the morning, during transition periods, and even while working. it created a calmness and filled the room to be comfortable to work in.
I think also on the teachers part they should be a model of Christ- loving all the students of various backgrounds the same and taking the extra step to making the classroom feel like a 2nd home. #cuchat
A3 #cuchat a classroom should include lots of colors, materials with different perspectives and different types of resources (computers, books, posters, tablets, even teachers). It should be welcoming and encouraging, with no room for discrimmination and making others feel bad.
A2 A student who loves to learn is one who is attentive to small details but also grasps the big picture. This includes asking questions, doing extra research on the side, and willingness to be corrected and instructed #cuchat.
A1 #CUchat Hey Im Regina and im an early ed sophomore. To me learning is gaining both factual material and life experiences that you can use for future adult experiences. Its more than just spitting back onowledge but being able to apply to situations.
@GrotersLexi@drjervin I like the idea of teaching the students to adapt to their needs. Teaching skills along with facts and content will equip the students to be able to work through any problems/issues that theyll face, especially the ones they did not learn in school.
@drjervin A3 #Educ2100 it means we are equipping our students with both critical thinking skills AND social awareness so that they are able to figure out solutions to future problems w/ diverse resources, that are also both ethical to them and others.
@BlainAbbie@drjervin I love the idea that students are solving problems of the real world instead of problems to pass a test. To me, PBL gives the student more incentive to learn because they will utilize it in their adulthood
@drjervin A2 #EDUC2100 one way I could integrate learning by design is by offering a time during class to bring in different community members of various backgrounds to talk to the students about their personal lives, which will hopefully spark diverse interests in the kids.
