To be completely honest Iโm not sure how that even happened.
Iโve been feeling a bit dizzy but a good dinner and water should fix that. I promise to be more careful from now on.
[A scream, then he stops dead in his tracks breathing heavily.]
What? No. Of course not. Just out for a stroll.
[His lungs are absolutely burning. Caleb throws a worried look over his shoulder.]

@alphabetabest Ah. That makes sense that everyone would be at work.
Caleb debates, then settles for the truth.
โI do not have a job. I do whatever people need me to. I bring them groceries, help in their homes. The people from church help me out.โ
At least the ones that donโt hate him.
@alphabetabest โ..yes.โ
He stares intensely at his plate. Caleb is all too familiar with secrets. How they have to remain secret or better yet be repressed until theyโre no longer true.
@alphabetabest โAlrightโฆDerek.โ
A subtle look around. There are multiple people staying here? Where is everyone?
โI have never lived in a dorm building. Only ever atโฆhome.โ
@alphabetabest โNo sir.โ
He was supposed to go to Bible college, follow in his fatherโs footsteps. Now that wonโt be an option anymore. As of now he barely has a place to stay. Thankfully a shelter took him in for a few more days.
@regiuslupus "Yeah," Derek sips at his coffee.
"I think some of that is so people don't ask too many questions. You know how all towns have their secrets."
