At the same time as publishing the important Everton points deduction decision the PL also published a short decision following a hearing that took place back in early May in which I acted for 5 other clubs that has until now remained confidential: https://t.co/DqTSFSYjYd

As usual with arbitration I can’t comment on the proceedings but the short decision should be of interest to many as it is to my knowledge the first case to consider the PL rule allowing for clubs to claim compensation in disciplinary proceedings, the purpose of which was acknowledged to be to avoid the multiplicity of different proceedings (para 6)

Readers can note 3 things from the now public judgment:

1) under the rules other clubs may in principle have a claim for compensation and such claims will be dependent on the outcome of the PL complaint amongst other things - see para 11;

2) despite PL rule W.27 providing the right to a club to apply to be awarded compensation in disciplinary proceedings, the rights to intervene were viewed as very limited (e.g paras 12-13); and

3) the commission was asked to determine the complaint before June this year but found it was impossible to do so (paras 16-17).
