@cheapholidayexp Thanks @cheapholidayexp. My passport expires next year and was going to delay getting a replacement. But after reading this and travelling a number of times a year for personal use I will bring my renewal forward. Thanks again
After 3yrs of thinking I’d developed worsening hay fever, I’ve finally solved the mystery: air pollution. I live in one of UK’s worst polluted areas - Kensington/Chelsea - and when air quality’s v bad, like last week, I feel rough. When it’s OK, like now, I’m fine. Anyone else?
@MayorofLondon I would get more for selling my car than what you are offering for scrap it.
I also looked to retrofit my car when ULEZ first came in as I live in inner London. No point as I was still going to be charged.
So will continue to pay £12.50 to drive to Surrey for work in NHS.
@vickielazari @MayorofLondon No we still have to pay, as I do now as its cheaper and safer to drive my car to the different NHS sites I work at as well as visiting people in the community
@MayorofLondon I am an essential car user for NHS not entitled to scrap scheme. Safer and cheaper to be in my car than to pay zone 1 - 6 + travel cards for work.
@MayorofLondon I wanted to retrofit my car before the first expansion. Was told after calling a number of suppliers that even if I retrofit I will still be charged.
So I will continue to have my car's annual MOT and service and yes paid for diesel clense (clear) and will continue to pay £12.50.
@MayorofLondon Are you seriously asking a chronic asthmatic to cycle or walk in high pollution levels and not drive?
I just came back from a trip abroad 30 plus degrees no issues with my asthma and as soon as I land asthma is problematic.
Sort this out
@EllaRobertaFdn It's not just you. Just came back from Dubai and my asthma and hay-fever has been a mess. May have to make serious plans about moving out of London in the future as anywhere else in the world I don't see to have this problem
@EllaRobertaFdn Met police strip searched a 12 year old in school no adults present. This took place in 2020 but report and delayed public apology only came out today
@MayorofLondon The issue here is that I don't meet the freshhold for scrapping my car. So saved to change the engine. No one would touch my car. I was eventually told I would still be charged ULEZ so happy to pay the £12.50 to drive as its still cheaper than taking public transport to work.
@MayorofLondon And today we have another tube strike forcing drivers back into thier cars to get to work as not all of us can work from home. And after this week increase in fares its still cheaper and safer for me to drive to work.
@MayorofLondon I work in Surrey and the drive to work on the shorter route of 11 miles took one hour 20 minutes The longer 15 mile return home route took less than one hour. Reason: shorter route single lane of traffic due to not used cycle lane from Clapham to Mordon. Return route the A3.
