[ADG PI - INDIAN ARMY @adgpi]

Overcoming Adversity With Courage

In a proud moment, Lieutenant Colonel Dwarakesh C of the Indian Army has been conferred the ‘National Award for Persons with Disabilities 2025’ in the ‘Sarvshreshth Divyangjan’ category by the Hon’ble President of India on the occasion of the ‘International Day of Persons with Disabilities’ in New Delhi.

Despite a complete loss of eyesight in a service-related accident, he continued to serve on active duty, setting new benchmarks of dedication and commitment. A decorated National Paralympic Champion in swimming and shooting, he has won multiple gold medals and currently ranks World No. 3 in the 10m Air Rifle event.

The award recognises his exceptional commitment, resilience and indomitable spirit in overcoming adversity and excelling at the highest levels.

The Indian Army remains committed to nurturing sporting excellence and fostering talent across disciplines.
